The Psalmes, Songs and Sonnets of 1611 was de laatste publicatie van William Byrd. En wat een prachtig passend hoogtepunt van een leven lang muzikale dienst is dit! Het zit niet alleen boordevol variatie en vindingrijkheid - zowel heilige als seculiere muziek en het gebruik van een scala aan krachten van kleine trio's tot consorten tot volledig koor - het is waarschijnlijk de gelukkigste, meest serene muziekcollectie die Byrd ooit heeft geproduceerd. Vooruitlopend op de 400e verjaardag van William Byrds dood in 2023, krijgen The Sixteen en Harry Christophers gezelschap van het gevierde Viol Consort, Fretwork, voor deze nieuwe volledige opname van de Psalmes, Songs and Sonnets of 1611.
